July 30, 2013 - Presidential
Search Committee holds
inaugural
meeting
The Presidential Search Committee held its inaugural meeting on July 30, 2013
via teleconference, with all Committee members present.
The Search Committee considered key business, including:
- review of the group’s terms of reference, and overview of the respective
roles & responsibilities of the Search Committee, search consultant, Board
of Governors, and University Secretariat;
- an update on preliminary activities undertaken to launch the Committee and
to support it in its work;
- reaching agreement on the Committee’s next steps in engaging an executive
search consultant to assist the Committee throughout the recruitment
process.
A formal Request for Proposals (RFP) process is
currently underway to solicit proposals from search consultants who have proven
experience and success with senior leadership recruitment in the post-secondary
sector in Canada. The RFP process was designed to be fair and
transparent, and meets all requirements of the Ontario Broader Public Sector
procurement guidelines.
The RFP closes on August 9, 2013, after which time
qualifying proposals will be evaluated by the Search Committee through (1)
scoring of the proposals according to criteria set out in the RFP, followed by
(2) in-person presentations and interviews with the highest-ranking proponents.
It is anticipated that award of the contract to the successful search
consultant will be in place by early September 2013.
