July 9, 2013 - Update to the campus and external community
Over the last weeks, the Board of Governors and its Executive Committee have
undertaken preliminary planning with respect to recruitment of Trent's 8th
President and Vice-Chancellor. The overarching process for the Presidential
Search builds on the foundation of:
- the Board’s Special Resolution (SR) III.2, which provides for broad
representation from the Board and Senate on the Presidential Search Committee,
and ensures a balance of participation by faculty, students, staff, and the
external community; and
- the Presidential Mandate for 2014-2019 that was developed through extensive
consultation earlier this year and approved by the Board in March
2013.
Currently, the Executive Committee is in the final stages of constituting the
12-member Presidential Search Committee as set out in SR III.2. The Search
Committee’s work will begin in earnest before the end of July, with one of its
first tasks being to retain the services of an executive search consultant to
help the Committee source a pool of well-qualified candidates. The University
Secretariat will announce the members of the Search Committee once all of its
members have confirmed their participation.
