2015 Graduate Profiles Hubert Chan '13, B.B.A. Honours, Business Administration, Markham, OntarioWith a sharp mind for business and abundant ambition to earn a degree, Hubert transferred his knowledge over to Trent University Durham after receiving his diploma at Durham College. Now a graduate of Trent’s Business Administration program and an active member of the campus community, Hubert and leadership are on a first-name basis. As director of Business Administration within the Board of Directors for the Trent Oshawa Student Association, Hubert gained real-life organization and communications skills. He also took part in the Leadership Program led by Student Life Coordinator Chris Nelan. The program gives students the opportunity to learn leadership strategies while recognizing the leadership activities they participate in as part of their studies. Through the program Hubert says, “I was also able to develop leadership skills in many different areas like, diversity, conflict mediation, and team building exercises.” Hubert says he chose Trent University Durham because of the small community feel. He enjoys interacting with other students and having the opportunity to expand his network beyond his program through events such as orientation. Hubert also describes his professors as very inspirational and knowledgeable. “Because you are on a first name basis with your professors, you can contact them at any point for assistance with assignments or other issues in life,” said Hubert. “The community has been the best aspect of studying at Trent University Durham, there is always a friend around the corner, a familiar face.” For now Hubert will take some time to reflect on his academic career while carefully considering his next step. Regarding his time at Trent both within and out of the classroom he says, “Trent has prepared me with the academic and life skills required for me to advance into the next part of my life.” Awards and Scholarships received at Trent University:
