Biography
Beryl Cable-Williams is a registered nurse who began her career in community and public health nursing in a variety of settings including homes, schools, and communities focusing on family health, hospice/palliative care, and care with older adults. Beryl began teaching at Trent University in 1998 as an appointee from Fleming College. Her PhD research at the University of Alberta used mixed methods to explore the influence of the culture of long-term care on awareness of impending death among the oldest-old and hence on the provision of palliative care. Although now retired, Beryl maintains a passion for nursing with older adults. She is a member of the Trent Centre for Aging and Society, serves on the Board of the Alzheimer’s Society of Peterborough, Kawartha Lakes, Northumberland, & Haliburton, and is a reviewer for the International Journal of Older People Nursing.
