Biography
Catherine Thibeault (RN retired) began her career as a Registered Nurse in acute care settings, working primarily in women’s health. She later worked as both a community health and acute care nurse in the Northwest Territories and on the coast of Labrador. After achieving a graduate degree in mental health nursing, she became a Clinical Nurse Specialist in mental health nursing at the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre in Halifax. Her career as an educator of nurses included faculty positions at the School of Nursing in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Nunavut Arctic College in Iqaluit, Nunavut, and Dalhousie University. She began teaching at Trent University in 2012, and is now Professor Emerita, having retired as an Associate Professor in 2022. Her doctoral thesis is The Relationships of Hospitalized Persons with Acute Mental Illness and Their Nurses: An Interpretive Inquiry.
