United Way targets $51,000

Janice Millard (Faculty) and Tony Storey (Staff) are co-chairs of this year's Trent University Faculty/Staff United Way campaign which has a target of $51,000. The three-week campaign begins Sept. 27 and winds up Friday, Oct. 15. This year's United Way slogan is: "You have the power".

As an incentive to givers, campaign organizers have planned three weekly draws: the Grand Prize, donated by Ostrander Cruise and Travel, is a weekend getaway at the Gananoque Inn. Other prizes include books and T-shirts, $10 bookstore gift certificates and Aramark vouchers. Retiree John Wiseman has also donated a framed watercolour painting.

The official kickoff BBQ will be held Friday, Oct. 1, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the bridge outside Champlain College. Celebrity chefs will be cooking hot dogs and veggie dogs, with President Bonnie Patterson and Mayor Sylvia Sutherland serving over the noon hour.
