Student recruitment moves into high gearAs many as 40,000 high school students from the Greater Toronto Area and elsewhere in Ontario will have the opportunity to learn about a Trent University education at this year's Ontario Universities' Fair. Running from Sept. 22-24, in the South Hall of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, the fair is the biggest single recruitment event of the year, with an incredibly busy pace, according to Allan Barnfield of the Office of the Registrar. "Over the last few years, staff and faculty participation at the Fair has increased greatly and I hope we can continue the trend this year," said Barnfield. Georgina Galloway, also in the Office of the Registrar, said the fall season is an exciting and busy time for student recruitment. "This is the time of year that we head out across Ontario, Canada and overseas, visiting over 500 schools to meet with prospective students and their parents." High school students expressing an interest in Trent will be invited to attend the university's open house, scheduled for Saturday Oct. 14. Again this year, the registrar's office is seeking volunteers to help at the Toronto fair, and will run a shuttle van to Toronto for those needing transportation. A short briefing session for volunteers will be held Monday, September 18, from noon - 12:30 p.m. in the Administrative Studies Project Room of Blackburn Hall. Back to the Trent Report main page |
