Trent community participates in Memorial Tribute for victims of US Disasters
Students, faculty, and staff at Trent University came together to express deep feelings of grief at a Memorial Tribute to the victims of this week's tragedy in the U.S. Set up in the lobby of Otonabee College just outside Wenjack Theatre, the tribute allowed individuals to leave flowers, write messages or poetry, and sign a memorial book.
Members of the business community contributed to the Memorial Tribute at Trent as well. Comstock Funeral Home donated a decorative tree and memorial book. Laser Graphics printed two signs free of charge, Amarak supplied a tablecloth and skirt, and the A & P donated flowers. From Trent, the Bookstore donated teddy bears and the Alumni Association and Otonabee Council donated flowers.
The Memorial Tribute was in place for one week, at which time Comstock Funeral Home forwarded the memorial book on to the American Consulate. Trent students, faculty, and staff steadfastly braved the long wait to give blood at Canadian Blood Services, while the Trent Central Student Association accepted donations for the victims of the U.S. tragedies.
