International post for Trent grad

Trent University graduates continue to distinguish themselves on the world stage, with the appointment of Mackenzie Clugston as Canada's Consul General in Osaka, Japan.

Clugston attended Trent from 1971-1974 and graduated with a BA in Political Science and History. He has worked at the Department of External Affairs since 1982 and has had a variety of positions since that time.

Known as "Ken" while at Trent, Clugston went on to receive an MA in Public Administration at Queen's in 1977. He joined the Department of External Affairs in 1982 and served abroad twice in Tokyo as a trade commissioner.

In Ottawa, he held a number of positions, including assignments with the South Africa Task Force, the International Financial and Investment Affairs Division, the United States Trade and Economic Policy Division, and the International Economic Relations Division.

From 1997 to 1999, he was a Policy Advisor at the Privy Council Office.

Mackenziešs brother Michael Clugston also attended Trent and was a member of the class of '69.
