Award to Geographer McKenna Neuman

Prof. Cheryl McKenna Neuman, Geography, has been awarded the prestigious J. Ross Mackay award by the Canadian Geomorphological Research Group. The annual award recognizes a significant achievement by a young geomorphologist within Canada. The purpose of the award is to foster the development of geomorphology in Canada and to provide recognition of young scientists in this field.

McKenna Neuman received the award for her paper "Particle transport and adjustments of the boundary layer rough surfaces with an unrestricted, upwind supply of sediment."

The award is named for Ross Mackay who has been conducting research in Canada for 50 years, and is still working in the Western Canadian Arctic. McKenna Neuman says Mackay "is a legend" in the field. McKenna Neuman presented a brief lecture at the group's annual general meeting in Calgary when the award was presented.
