Trent's new Virtual Tour
Virtual Trent Trent University's award-winning Web site now boasts a virtual Trent tour featuring the latest Internet technology in a variety of multi-media segments. The tour was developed in response to research and focus group surveys of new and current students. Findings indicated prospective students want basic information about where they are going to live, where they will eat, what they could study, the campus look, and what class sizes they can expect.
The Communications Department, Trent Photographics, and Trent Radio collaborated on the virtual tour. It includes a movie featuring "a day in the life" of a first-year Trent humanities student, in which a photographer followed "Becky" for a day taking photos and recording her impressions. The result is a black and white photo documentary and soundtrack that showcases life at Trent in a creative style.
The tour includes panoramic photos of the Trent campus, including gorgeous views taken in 360-degree perspective from the Faryon Bridge. One segment focuses on Trent's research strengths by featuring interactive clips of professors and students talking about their research pursuits. A Quicktime movie with Convocation day testimonials from students and professors provides insight into why Trent is a special place for learning and teaching.
Audio lectures, part of the Trent site for more than a year, have been expanded in this virtual tour package. These five-minute lectures allow professors to describe some aspect of their teaching and research.
