NSERC Intellectual Property Management Award
NSERC has awarded the University $191,500 over three years under the "Intellectual Property
Management Program" to create a position of "Industrial Liaison & Special Projects Officer"
at the University. This individual will be responsible for the promotion of technology
transfer, cultivation of industrial partnerships, overseeing joint industry projects
and developing internship and cooperative programs with industry.
SSHRC Aid to Small Universities Award
SSHRC has awarded the University a three year grant of $80,010 under the Aid to
Small Universities Program. This award is based on a competitive process where
SSHRC supports the most promising and dynamic research at small universities.
An amount of $10,000 each will be awarded to the Frost Centre and the new "Centre
for the Study Of Theory, Culture, and Politics" in each of the three years.
The remaining $20,010 funds will be allocated to interdisciplinary research
projects by the SSHRC Committee on Research.
NSERC Announces Competition
for NCEs
The deadline for Competition for New Networks of Centres of Excellence (NCEs)
is June 1, 1999 for receipt of Letters of Intent. This is an Open Competition
and will have a budget of approximately $10 million. Selected applicants will
be invited to submit full proposals by September 15, 1999. Full information
is available at www.nce.gc.ca.
Symons Trust Fund for
Canadian Studies
Applications are welcomed from individuals, groups, departments, and programmes,
within Trent University. The purpose of the Trust is to support and enhance
the study of Canada at Trent University. A brochure is available from the
office outlining application procedures. Deadline: April 15, 1999.
New IDRC Program
The Ecosystem Approaches to Human Health Program supports interdisciplinary
research that focuses on the development of ecosystem management interventions
that lead to the improvement of human health and well being. The Program is
funded by the International Development Research Committee (IDRC).
Deadline: September 10.
