Trent employee Dave Ruthowsky, one of Peterborough's
top softball pitchers, was inducted to the Peterborough and District
Sports Hall of Fame at a ceremony held June 1.
Ruthowsky, Supervisor of Facility Maintenance,
was one of six named this year to the Sports Hall. He has played
on teams that have won 14 provincial and five Canadian championships
in his four-decade athletic career. He won 30 top pitching awards
including two at the national
championships. His team won a 1979 Pan-American Games gold medal
in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Previously elected to the B.C. Sports Hall
of Fame (1990), Ruthowsky was elected to the Canadian Softball
Hall of Fame in 1994 as a member of the world champion Victoria
team.
