New year brings new faces Garth Brownscombe has been appointed to the position of Director of Financial Services. He joined the financial services team on January 15th, reporting to A. Sally Young, Vice-President Administration. Formerly the Director of Accounting at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre, Brownscombe is a Certified General Accountant (CGA) with an Honours BA in Economics from York University. He brings to the position a wealth of financial management experience including all aspects of financial services, operating and capital budget, cost distribution models and the implementation of new financial information systems. Anne Parker has been appointed Project Manager to oversee implementation of the high-speed network link between Trent University and Sir Sandford Fleming College. The link, funded under SuperBuild, will provide students in joint programs access to the information resources of both institutions. Parker, who was recently involved in a regional inter-hospital information technology initiative, has worked at Ross Memorial Hospital, Lindsay, and Peterborough Hospital. She will divide her time between Trent and Fleming campuses, working closely with technical managers from both schools, as well as articulation committees responsible for developing joint programs. The project will take two years to complete. Leanne Simpson has been appointed Director of Indigenous Environmental Studies (IES), a new program launched this year through a collaboration between Native Studies and the Environmental and Resource Studies Program. Prior to coming to Trent, Simpson worked with a number of different First Nation communities on environmental issues. She holds a Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Manitoba. |
