Exemplary teaching recognized Dr. Richard Hurley, Chair of Computer Studies, is the 2001 recipient of the Symons Teaching Award. The announcement was made at Senate on April 10. The annual award of $1,000 is given in recognition of outstanding teaching and exemplary concern for students. In citing the qualities that Dr. Hurley exemplifies one of his nominees said "not a class goes by that Professor Hurley has not made a valiant effort to add entertainment to the class while keeping everyone focused he makes you understand everything before going on." Hurley has been teaching at Trent, both on the Symons Campus and in Oshawa, for the past 10 years. He has been Chair of the department since January 1999. The award will be presented at Convocation
in June.
