Susan Mackle: Woman of Distinction

Susan Mackle, Vice President of Advancement at Trent University, was "deeply honoured" last month when Soroptomist International of Peterborough awarded her the 'Women of Distinction Award' for 2002.

Mackle, who was nominated by her staff in Trent University's Development Office, was selected as a woman who has made outstanding achievements in her professional, business and voluntary activities during the last 10 years, demonstrated exemplary character, integrity and leadership, and been visible and vocal in her field. She expressed her gratitude for the award, stating, "I have long admired the work Soroptomist International does on behalf of women. The fact that my staff
nominated me for this award makes this recognition even more special."

Mackle's many contributions to the community include last year's Beyond Our Walls campaign which exceeded the campaign goal raising $17.2 million for Trent University. She was also the first female President of the Peterborough Rotary Club and continues to share her professional skills with community service groups.
