Traill College award from PACAC

Traill College has received a commendation from the Peterborough Architectural Conservation Advisory Committee (PACAC) in recognition of the integrity of renovations made to the Bradburn House students' residence on London Street.

The 1860s-era building was renovated during the summers of 1997 and 1998. Rooms on the first three floors were made into studio apartments for upper-year students.

Last summer the south wing addition at the back of the house was transformed into a two-storey wing with dormers that echo the architectural style of the original house. Exterior fire escapes and a glass and aluminum vestibule were removed. Aluminum siding was replaced with board and batten and the entire house was painted.

The PACAC presentation recognizes the exterior work "which has sought to keep the building space functional as a university residence while maintaining sensitivity to the building's architecture and historic importance."
