Walk for AIDS

The sixth annual walk to raise awareness of and support for AIDS takes place Sept. 28.

Registration starts at 1 p.m. and the walk starts at 1:30 p.m. from Trent's Peter Robinson College. Participants can walk, jog or push strollers along two-, five- or 10-kilometre routes through Peterborough's east city.

Organized by Trent's AIDS Education Resources Centre and the Peterborough AIDS Resource Network, the walk is part of a national effort to raise funds for AIDS care, research and education. Last year, 250 participants raised $12,000 locally for Trent's AIDS education program and the four-county network.

For the second year, the Hope Cup will be awarded to the Trent college with the most walkers. Last year, Traill College won. In addition, the person who brings in the most money wins a night for two at the Ste. Anne's Country Inn and Spa. The Trent group or club turning in the most money on the day of the walk wins gift certificates worth $60 for appetizers at the Peterborough Arms.
