Meningitis alert
A Champlain College student diagnosed with meningitis during reading week
has been the only known case reported since in the Trent population.
Hospital reports early last week said the
student's condition had improved.
Trent informed Champlain
College residents Oct. 26. Peterborough
medical officer of health Garry Humphreys met with Champlain's dons. And a
bulletin Oct. 27 advised members of the university community to report to
Health Services if they develop a fever, a symptom of the illness. The
illness can be transmitted after close contact.
Trent's Health Services can answer any
questions about symptoms. Call 748-1481.
In the Oct. 27 bulletin, vice-president
administration John Earnshaw said the student's name is not being released to safeguard
confidentiality.
