Poet Laura Lush opens reading series
Poet Laura Lush opens Trent's annual Writers Reading Series Nov. 12.
She leads a line-up that includes Candas Dorsey on Nov. 26; Carole Corbeil on Jan. 21; Barbara Gowdy on Feb. 4; Steven Heighton on Feb. 11; Cecil Foster on March 4; two local writers on March 11; and Brian Maracle on March 18.
Her first book of poetry, Hometown, was published in 1991 by Vehicule Press and nominated for a Governor General's Award. Her poems appear regularly in literary magazines in Canada and abroad and her work was included in Blues and True Confessions, a 1996 anthology of Toronto poets from Anansi Press. Vehicule Press just published her second book of poetry, Fault Line.
Lush teaches English as a second language at the University of Toronto. She was born in Brantford in 1959.
She reads in Lady Eaton College senior common room at 8 p.m. A reception follows.
