Walk Home program extends hours
Requests for earlier service has led the Walk Home program to extend its hours.

        Volunteer escorts are available from 5:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. instead of from 7 p.m. Monday to Friday to accompany people who must get somewhere on campus by foot in the dark. They will be available Saturdays and Sundays from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. These hours will be in effect until mid-February.

JBC's holiday dinner
Julian Blackburn College (JBC) and its student association are hosting a Christmas dinner Dec. 6 at Traill College. The event begins at 7 p.m. with a cash bar followed by dinner at 8 p.m. Admission is $10 for JBC students; $15 for their guests. For tickets, call Helen Wallis at 748-1380.

Santa to appear at children's party
Trent's Social and Athletic Association invites members, Marriott staff and their families to a holiday and Christmas party featuring Santa and his elves and a magic show Dec. 14 in Wenjack Theatre at 1 p.m. For information, call Audrey McLaughlin at 748-1204.

Winter swim lessons
Trent is offering the following aquatic programs beginning in January: AquaTots, AquaQuest, AquaAdults, lifesaving and lifeguard training; AquaLeaders; springboard diving, ESSO Swim Canada competitive swimming.

        Get a registration number from the Athletics Complex Dec. 8 between 1:30 and 5 p.m. or by calling 748-1257. The number will allot a 15-minute time period to register Dec. 10.

More on Ecuador
Ecuador's consul general for Toronto and past participants of the Trent-in-Ecuador program will be on hand to answer questions and share their experiences of Ecuador at an open house Nov. 27 in Lady Eaton College Pit from 3:30 to 7 p.m.

Madrigal singers perform at festival
Trent's Madrigal Singers will perform early music under the baton of Peter MacKinnon Nov. 23 at the Festival of Trees in the Memorial Centre at 10:30 a.m.

Chances to study a year abroad
Students interested in finding out about all Trent's year-abroad and exchange programs can find out more at a meeting Nov. 26 in Lady Eaton College lecture hall from 7 to 9 p.m. Application forms and a detailed handbook listing all programs will be available. 24 cents per km
As of Oct. 1, the university's per-kilometre reimbursement increased to 24 cents from 23.5 cents.

        Staff travelling on business and wishing to use the new Highway 407 can obtain a transponder for $11.50 from Lorraine Hayes in Purchasing. With a transponder, a two-way trip costs $5 each way plus the transponder charge, for a total of $22.50. Enterprise Rent A Car, Trent's preferred car rental agency, will combine a $10 service charge and a $6 fee per trip, for a total of $32, as of Dec. 14.

50/50 draw winners
Every month, three staff and faculty members win cash in the 50/50 draw.

        To qualify, they donate a membership fee of $24.75 by payroll deduction to the Trent University Social and Athletic Association.

        First-prize winners since April have taken home between $143.89 and $191.29; second, $25; and third, $10. First-prize winners from March to August were Dale Buelow, Glen Easson, Wayne Holtz, Tui Menzies, Jayne Todd and Donna Ronaldson. Second-prize winners were Tony van Hoeckel, Donna Ronaldson, Jan Myland, Bill Bowers, Michael Treadwell and Torben Drewes. Third-prize winners were Shirley Atherley (twice), Kathy Fife, Pauline Mills, Jan Myland and Roger Jones.

Deadline extended

Food service tender
The university is tendering the food service contract. Contact John Burbidge with any concerns about food service at 748-1494, by e-mail at jburbidge@trentu.ca or at his office in Champlain College F30 or Kylie Patrick at kpatrick@trentu.ca.

Closed for holidays
The university will be closed Dec. 24 through to and including Jan. 4.

        For members of Local 365, Ontario Public Service Employees Union, Christmas, Boxing and New Year's days are statutory holidays. Dec. 24 is a working day before Christmas, Dec. 29-31 are three working days between Christmas and New Year's Day, and Jan. 2 is a designated additional paid non-statutory holiday.
