A glimpse of the eclipse
Physics instructor Jonathan Jiang shows students the progression of the
Earth's shadow across the sun during the solar eclipse Feb. 26. The
telescope magnified the image of the sun projected on a white cardboard. At
Peterborough latitudes, the Earth eclipsed about one tenth of the sun's
surface at its base between 12:35 and 1:44 p.m. Closer to the equator there
was a full eclipse. Next to Jiang, from left, are students Bonnie Whelan,
Nicky Hazard and Julia McCourt.
