Trent chancellor Mary May Simon has agreed to extend her three-year term for one more year to July 1, 1999 to give the university time to complete senior administration searches.

      Simon is Canada's first Arctic ambassador. She has received wide recognition for her work advancing and defending the rights of the Inuit at home and in the circumpolar north.
