Writers Reading Kissed author postpones reading
Barbara Gowdy, upon whose short story the film Kissed was based, will read
from her work March 18 not Feb. 4 as originally scheduled.
Gowdy's novels include Through the Green Valley (1988), Falling Angels
(1989) and Mister Sandman (1995), which was nominated for the Governor
General's Award and the Giller Prize. The title story of her 1992 short
story collection, We So Seldom Look on Love, was adapted for the film
Kissed (directed by Lynne Stopkewich). Her work has been translated into
many languages, published in 13 countries and has topped the best-seller
list in Germany. Canadian writer Carol Shields told the Boston Globe Gowdy
"writes like an angel."
She will read March 18 in Traill College senior common room at 8 p.m.
