New human resources chief

Monday was Scott Pollard's first day as Trent's new associate vice-president human resources.

Scott Pollard         Pollard replaces John Earnshaw, who was acting director of human resources.

He comes to Trent after three years as human resources director for the Northumberland-Clarington Board of Education in Cobourg. His responsibilities included collective bargaining as chief negotiating officer.

Pollard, 43, has held similar positions with the federal government. He was chief of the human resources division for the Toronto district office of Revenue Canada from 1989 to 1994. He was regional chief of staff relations in charge of the labor relations program for Ontario Regional Public Works in Toronto from 1987 to 1989. And he worked for the Public Service Commission in human resource management, recruitment staffing and system development in Ottawa and Toronto from 1981 to 1987.

Pollard graduated from York University in 1977 with a geography degree. He expects to complete Queen's University's national executive master of business administration program this spring.
