Healy research dean for two more years

Paul Healy Paul Healy, Trent University's dean of research and graduate studies, has agreed to extend his administrative appointment another two years.

        In 1995, the anthropology professor accepted a three-year appointment as associate dean of research and graduate studies. Last fall, the university elevated the position to dean. Following an internal review, Healy was subsequently asked to consider serving an additional two years. He has agreed to extend his deanship to June 30, 2000.

        Educated at the University of California-Berkeley and Harvard University, Healy was hired by Trent's anthropology department in 1976. His archeological investigations in Central America have attracted international attention and significant levels of research funding from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council.

        He is past chair of Trent's anthropology department and the 1994 recipient of Trent's Distinguished Research Award.
