Irish celebrated in women's journal
Three local women, including a Trent graduate, will read excerpts from their stories about Irish women, at Trent University Bookstore Dec. 6 between 2 and 4 p.m.

The stories are published in the most recent issue of York University's Canadian Woman Studies journal. To mark the launch of this summer/fall issue, Irish poet Lucy Brennan will recite recent work and Trent MA graduate Libby Birch will read a piece on Jane Urquhart. And women of Irish origin, Marion Lynn and Pat LeSage Cockburn of Hastings County, will also read. There will also be music and refreshments.

Hike on drumlin
Take an interpretive hike with Cailin Clarke on the Lady Eaton Drumlin and learn the seasonal lore of the woods Dec. 7. Meet at 2 p.m. at Champlain Parking Lot P.

Web sites to behold
Trent Radio's fall schedule is posted on Trent's Web site at www.trentu.ca/trentradio/trodeo/guide97b.htm.

Additions to the station's music archive can be found by searching the listing at www.trentu.ca/trentradio/search.html.

If it snows listen to the radio
If a heavy overnight snowfall or dangerous road conditions mean Trent University will not open in the morning, news of the closing will be braodcast on the following radio stations:

  • CKPT (1420 AM)
  • CKQM (105.1 FM)
  • CKRU (980 AM)
  • CKWF (101.5 FM)
  • CKLY (910 AM)
  • CFFF (92.7 FM)
This information will also be available on InfoTrent's recorded message line at 748-1234.

Please avoid calling the university switchboard or other administrative offices.

If the university closes during the day, supervisors will be notified and they will then notify all staff who report to them. An electronic message will also appear on computer screens when logging onto e-mail and TOPCAT.

Trent classes at Durham College in Oshawa are cancelled whenever Durham College is closed. They may also be cancelled when Durham is open if weather conditions make driving the faculty van from Peterborough to Oshawa dangerous. Oshawa students should listen to Oshawa radio stations to find out if classes at Durham are cancelled.
