Death of Professor Emeritus Cyril Carter

I write to inform you of the passing of Professor Emeritus Cyril Carter who retired from Trent in 1993.

Dr. Carter completed his PhD in Mathematical Physics in England in 1955. He joined Trent's faculty in 1968 and in 1971 was appointed Chair of the Department of Mathematics. In 1984 he was appointed Chair of the Environmental and Resource Studies Program.

Dr. Carter was elected as a faculty representative to the Trent Board of Governors in 1988 for a one-year term.

Considered an energy expert, Dr. Carter served the Peterborough community as Chair of the Peterborough Utilities Commission from 1977-78 and 1981-91. He served as Chair and Vice-Chair of the Commission during many of those years.

There will be a reception and memorial at the Lion's Centre, corner of Burnham and Hunter streets, Peterborough, on Saturday, Feb. 13 at 2 p.m.
