Nursing Student to Represent Canada on Underwater Hockey Team
Jessica Brown to compete with first-ever Under 23 Canadian Women's underwater hockey team
Can you really play hockey underwater? Fourth-year Trent student Jessica Brown answers that question with a resounding “Yes!” And this Nursing student ought to know as she was recently selected to play on the under 23 Canadian women’s underwater hockey team.
“This is a huge deal for Canada because it is the first time in the 60 year history of underwater hockey that Canada is able to send an under 23 women’s team,” explains Ms. Brown, who has been playing the sport since she was seven years old, after her parents, both of whom were drafted for national elite teams, got her involved in the sport. “I am now slowly following in their footsteps by playing in the 2015 Junior World Championships held in Spain in August.”
