Trent University Recipient of New Enabling Accessibility Fund Grant
On Saturday, April 25 the Honourable Pierre Poilievre, Minister of Employment and Social Development, was on hand at Trent University to announce investments to improve access for Canadians with disabilities in Peterborough and nearby communities. The announcement included a $37,000 grant for Trent’s Making Collaborative Learning Spaces Accessible for All project. Trent Students Rise to Become Waste Warriors
Gzowski College was announced the winner of Trent’s first annual Cafeteria Waste Challenge which took place March 16-23 in the Otonabee, Gzowski, Champlain and Lady Eaton College dining halls. To win the challenge students had to show the most improvement in properly sorting their college’s garbage, recycling and compost. The winners were awarded with an Eco-certificate and “No Trash Bash” held in their dining hall.

2015 Distinguished Research Award Recipient Announced
Dr. Haroon Akram-Lodhi, professor and chair of International Development Studies, will receive the 2015 Distinguished Research Award for his global contribution to the study of international development at this year’s convocation ceremony. The Distinguished Research Award is one the University’s top honours and is given annually to a member of Trent’s faculty in recognition of outstanding achievement in research and scholarship.

Celebrating the Heart of Trent
On April 30, 2015 more than 300 staff, faculty, retirees and volunteers gathered to celebrate 50 years of service and collegiality to the Trent Community. The special event was held in the Great Hall of Champlain College, with special attention given to those who are retiring. During the event it was also announced that the total staff and faculty contribution towards the new Student Centre has exceeded $189,000.

Sociology Professor Honoured by Ontario Undergraduate Student Alliance
Trent University Durham Professor, Jim Cosgrave, professor of Sociology, was the recipient of the 2015 Ontario Undergraduate Student Alliance Award for Excellence in Teaching. The award was presented at a special ceremony held in Toronto on April 9, 2015.
