Join Trent University Library and Archives for Edgy Women: Bringing Stories of Resistance and Resilience to Life, a dynamic author talk exploring narratives shaped by identity, defiance, and transformation. This event brings together four writers whose work centres women navigating and challenging social, cultural, and historical constraints. 

Featured Speakers

Patty Krawec  

Author of Becoming Kin: An Indigenous Call to Unforgetting the Past and Reimagining Our Future and Bad Indians Book Club, and co-founder of the Nii'kinaaganaa Foundation. Patty Krawec is a Anishinaabe/Ukrainian writer, activist and speaker belonging to Lac Seul First Nation in Treaty 3 territory and residing in Niagara Falls. 

Meeta Kaur  

Lead Creator and Executive Editor of Kaurs Reimagine. Kaurs Reimagine: Sikh Women Blaze New Trails is a short story anthology that centers Sikh women’s truth-based narratives as a literary space for acceptance, healing, and transformation. Meeta Kaur is a seasoned author, researcher, community educator, and speaker. 

Symphorosa Gabriel  

Author of Hair Happiness, a children’s book celebrating Black hair while nurturing self-love, confidence, and pride from an early age. Symphorosa Gabriel is a Tanzanian-born writer and graduate of Environmental Science/Studies from Trent University, 

Amarpreet Kaur (Moderator) 

A contributing author to Kaurs Reimagine. Amarpreet is a mother of four children and a Nurse Practitioner with the Peterborough 360 clinic. She was born in Punjab, India, but has lived in Canada for most of her life.
