Runway Royale is a student-led fashion competition and clothing drive, celebrating creativity, sustainable fashion, and supporting the Oshawa community. Taking place on March 26 in Atrium A at 4 p.m. This event will have professors and students showcasing their style across three iconic fashion eras, including the 70s, 80s, and 90s. During this event viewers will take note of their favourite looks from each decade, and from there they will be asked to vote to decide on a winner for each round. The event encourages less engagement in the fast fashion industry and self-expression through a Bring Your Own Clothes (BYOC) approach. Additionally, between each round the audience will have the opportunity to compete in trivia games against other audience members. Making the experience interactive and engaging. This event also serves a community purpose, as Durham Outlook, a nonprofit organization dedicated to relieving the burdens of poverty and food insecurity within the Oshawa community, will be collaborating with our student team on this event to host a clothing and food drive. Our team asks that participants bring gently used clothing items and possibly a nonperishable food item for donation to support our event and the Oshawa community. By combining fashion, fun, and awareness, Runway Royale offers a unique opportunity for students and professors to express themselves. Both viewers and participants engage in community bonding while enjoying refreshments and snacks, which include homemade cookies and gluten- and dairy-free brownies.
