Trent University Mourns the Passing of Ms. Lillian Johnston
Trent University was saddened to learn of the passing of Ms. Lillian Johnston (nee Stollery) on October 12, 2013.
In 1974, Ms. Johnston joined Trent’s finance department and she retired as the supervisor of accounts payable in 1992.
Below is an excerpt from her obituary:
It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, Lillian A. Johnston (nee Stollery) on Saturday October 12, 2013. She is survived by her daughters Margaret and her husband John Lean, Gail and her fiancé Roger Lockhart. Her grandchildren, Rob Lean and his wife Jennifer Pound, Michelle Lean and her partner Neil Hobkirk, and her great-grandchildren Finn, Owen and Charlie Lean. Will be missed by her sister Shirley and her husband Brian Hodgson and sister-in-law, Muriel Stollery. Predeceased by her husband George Reginald Johnston and her brother Gordon Stollery. Lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews. Friends may call upon the Weaver Family Funeral Home, 77 Second St., Campbellford, ON for visitation on Friday, October 18th from 12:30 - 2 pm with funeral service to follow at 2 pm. Rev. Jamie York officiating. Interment in English Line Cemetery. The University extends heartfelt sympathies Ms. Johnston’s family and friends, and to all who knew her both in the Peterborough community and at Trent University. In honour of Ms. Johnston’s time at Trent, the University has lowered the flag atop the Bata Library to the half-mast position.
