Trent University Saddened to Learn of the Passing of Kenneth Brand
Mr. Brand worked at Trent University from 1989 to 2009
The Trent University community is saddened to learn of the passing of Kenneth Brand on May 8, 2015. He started at Trent in 1989 as a temporary night cleaner in Champlain College and became a full-time college porter in Champlain College in 1992, a role he held for 17 years.
Below is an excerpt from his obituary notice:
BRAND, Kenneth Wayne - Suddenly at Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Friday, May 8, 2015 at the 58 years of age. Ken worked at Champlain College at Trent University as Porter for 17 years, and later drove taxi at Call A Cab. Ken was also very involved in American Civil war reenactment and will be missed by his "Comrades in Arms" in the 49th New York Volunteer Infantry. His "Testifying" will be sadly missed around the campfire. Visitation will take place on Thursday, May 14, 2015 from 6:00 -9:00 p.m. at the Comstock Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 356 Rubidge Street. A funeral service will take place on Friday May 15, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in the Comstock Chapel. Interment to take place at Emily Cemetery. Memorial donations to Trillium Life of Ontario or Canadian Liver foundation would be greatly appreciated by Ken's family. Online condolences may be made at www.comstockfuneralhome.com
The University extends heartfelt sympathies to Kenneth Brand’s family and friends, and to all who knew him in Peterborough and at Trent University. In honour of Mr. Brand’s time at Trent, the University has lowered the flag atop the Bata Library to the half-mast position.
