Holiday Hours for Trent in Peterborough and Durham Greater Toronto Area

Winter holiday begins Monday, December 23, 2024. 

Most academic and administrative operations at Trent University in Peterborough and Durham GTA close for the winter holiday break at 12 p.m. on Friday, December 20, 2024, and reopen on Thursday, January 2, 2025. Check department websites and socials as individual office hours may vary. 

Classes resume at both campuses on Monday, January 6, for the winter semester.   

Student Residences

The Student Housing Office – The Blackburn Hall office closes at 4 p.m. on Thursday, December 19 and reopens at 9 a.m. on Thursday, January 2. 

Peterborough – Undergraduate residences across both campuses (Traill and Symons) close on Thursday, December 19 at 11 a.m. and reopen at 9 a.m. on Saturday, January 4. Graduate residences at Traill College do not close and remain open during the winter break. 

Durham – Residence closes on Thursday, December 19 at 11 a.m. and reopens at 9 a.m. on Saturday, January 4. 

In Peterborough and Durham, only students who have registered and received confirmation of their acceptance to the winter break will be permitted in residence during the break period. New January intake students may access residence beginning on Saturday, January 4.

Risk Management and Campus Safety Operations

Campus Security will remain on duty 24/7 throughout the holiday season. All building exterior doors, labs and classrooms will remain locked. Access cards will continue to allow entry to non-residence buildings. You are required to inform Campus Security (see contact info below) if you must access a campus building during the break. Persons without access cards and/or keys to non-residence buildings will require prior written approval from their department head that clearly specifies the time(s) and location(s) of required access. Please contact Campus Security to gain access under these circumstances.

Library Services

Bata Library – The library closes at 4 p.m. on Friday, December 20. It reopens with reduced hours from Thursday, January 2 to Sunday, January 5. Regular hours will resume on Monday, January 6. 

Archives & Special Collections – The archives close at 4 p.m. on Thursday, December 19 and reopen at 9 a.m. on Monday, January 6. 

Durham Campus Library & Learning Centre (DLLC) – The DLLC closes at 12 p.m. on Friday, December 20. It reopens with reduced hours January 2 and 3 and then closes for the weekend before resuming regular hours on Monday, January 6.

College Offices

Lady Eaton College – Closes at 4 p.m. on Thursday, December 19 and reopens at 9 a.m. on Thursday, January 2. 
Champlain College - Closes at 12 p.m. on Friday, December 20 and reopens at 9 a.m. on Thursday, January 2. 
Traill College - Closes at 12 p.m. on Friday, December 20 and reopens at 9 a.m. on Thursday, January 2. 
Gzowski College – Closes at 12 p.m. on Friday, December 20 and reopens at 9 a.m. on Monday, January 6. 
Otonabee College – Closes at 4 p.m. on Friday, December 20 and reopens at 9 a.m. on Thursday, January 2. 

Student Wellness

Student Wellness Centre services including Student Accessibility (SAS), Counselling, and Health close at 12 p.m. on Friday, December 20 and reopen at 9 a.m. on Monday, January 6. 

The Peer Support Program is closed from Thursday, December 5 through January 5 and reopens for regular hours on Monday, January 6. 

Other University and Student Services

Athletics Centre – The AC will be closed on the following days:

• Wednesday, December 25

• Tuesday, December 31 
• Wednesday, January 1 

It is open with modified hours from December 27-30 and January 2-5. It resumes regular hours beginning on Monday, January 6. Check the Athletics Centre website for details. 

Academic Advising – Same-day appointments are available up to Wednesday, December 18 at 4 p.m. and then resume at 9 a.m. on Monday, January 6. Visit the website for details and to book an appointment..

Campus Card Office – Closes at 12 p.m. on Friday, December 20 and reopens at 9 a.m. on Thursday, January 2.

Campus Tours – Closes at 4 p.m. on Friday, December 20. Visit the Discover Trent webpage to see all the ways you can connect with us virtually. In-person tours will resume on Monday, January 6. Book your 2024 tour now. 

Careerspace – Closes Friday, December 20 at 4 p.m. and reopens at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 2, with appointments available beginning Monday, January 6. Visit the Careerspace website for details and book an appointment through the Student Experience Portal. 

First Peoples House of Learning – Closes at 12 p.m. on Friday, December 20 and reopens at 9 a.m. on Thursday, January 2. 

Human Resources/Payroll – Closes at 12 p.m. on Friday, December 20 and reopens at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 2.

Campus Print & Shipping and Receiving Centre – Closes at 12 p.m. on Friday, December 20 and reopens at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 2. 

Student Accounts – Closes at 12 p.m. on Friday, December 20 and reopens at 9 a.m. on Thursday, January 2. 

School of Graduate Studies – Closes at 12 p.m. on Friday, December 20 and reopens at 9 a.m. on Thursday, January 2.  

Trent Campus Store – Closes at 12 p.m. on Friday, December 20 (remains open for online orders). The store will open with reduced hours on Thursday, January 2 (12-4 p.m.) and Friday, January 3 (10 a.m. - 4 p.m.). It will resume regular hours on Monday, January 6. All orders placed during the holiday closure will be completed on January 2.   

Trent International – Closes at 12 p.m. on Friday, December 20 and reopens at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 2. The international@trentu.ca inbox will continued to be monitored during this time.

Starbucks (in the Student Centre) – Closes at 11:30 a.m. on December 19 and reopens at 9 a.m. on Thursday, January 2.
