Participating in Take Our Kids to Work Day at Trent
Guidelines for faculty and staff wishing to host a grade 9 student at their workplace
A message from Risk Management
On November 6, grade 9 students in Ontario will spend the day at work, job shadowing a parent, relative or friend. Trent University supports this program, which helps students develop an appreciation for the importance of staying in school and showcases the skills required in today's workplaces. Parents will participate in a shared experience with their child that can start a career dialogue.
In order to ensure a safe and productive day, employees who wish to participate in the program are required to:
- Get their supervisors permission in advance.
- Read and adhere to the Take Our Kids to Work procedures.
- Read and sign the Consent Form and forward a copy by email to riskmanagement@trentu.ca
We recommend supervisors and employees participating in the program begin the day with an orientation session that outlines the workday agenda, behaviour expectations, and safety issues. Students are to be supervised at all times throughout the day.
As per the Trent University Computing Resources Acceptable Use Policy: “As an authorized Trent University user of computing and network resources, users may not enable unauthorized users to access the network by using a Trent computer or a personal computer that is connected to the Trent network. Students should not have access to your computer via your own personal login credentials and any confidential work or files should not be made available to them.”
