Fore the Future: Record $78,000 Raised to Support Trent Excalibur Student-Athletes
18th annual President’s Excalibur Golf Tournament raises funds for Excalibur Green and White Scholarships
On Thursday, golfers teed off at the scenic Peterborough Golf and Country Club for the 18th annual President’s Excalibur Golf Tournament. Hosted by Trent Athletics & Recreation, the event was more than just a battle for bragging rights; it was a mission to support student-athletes.
Thanks to the generosity of sponsors and participants, the tournament raised a record $78,000, bringing the cumulative amount raised to over $700,000.
“We are so appreciative of the unwavering support of our donors,” said Nathan McFadden, director of Trent Athletics & Recreation. “Their generosity ensures the continued success of the Green and White Scholarship Fund, which allows us to recruit and reward our student-athletes for their achievements both academically and athletically. This vital support assists in removing financial barriers for our student-athletes, setting them up for success in their sport and their studies.”
The Green and White Scholarship is offered to student-athletes who have achieved an average of 70 percent and have been recruited for their athletics skills and abilities. Returning student-athletes must maintain a minimum 70 percent average to be considered for a multi-year scholarship.
“The Green and White Scholarship has relieved some of the financial hardships that student-athletes struggle with,” said Natalie Fournier, dual-sport Excalibur student-athlete and keynote speaker at the tournament. “Not only do these scholarships help financially but they symbolize the unique community surrounding Trent Athletics. Receiving a Green and White Scholarship is a reminder of the incredible people we have supporting our organization, which is what makes me so proud to be an Excalibur.”
The annual President’s Excalibur Golf Tournament not only gives Trent Athletics a chance to thank valued sponsors, but it also allows sponsors to engage with Excalibur student-athletes firsthand and learn more about their experience as a varsity student-athlete.
Of the 20 foursomes that participated this year, the winning team was Weirfoulds LLP.
