Thriving Together: Thrive Week 2023 Nurtures Holistic Well-Being
From November 13-17, explore personal growth, wellness, and self-care
Trent’s annual Thrive Week – running November 13 to 18 – will immerse students, staff, and faculty in a wide variety of events, workshops, and activities designed to promote mental, emotional, and physical health.
“Thrive Week is an opportunity for the Trent community to come together and focus on the elements that make up our personal health and well-being,” said Lawrence Lam, associate vice president of Students. “Our goal is to provide resources and activities that empower our campus communities to thrive not just academically but also in their mental, emotional, and physical well-being. We believe that when individuals are well supported, they contribute to a more vibrant, thriving campus. The week aims to provide that support in a way that cherishes and advocates for our community.”
Thrive Week 2023 events – designed to create spaces where individuals can connect and learn from one another – range from mindfulness sessions in the Colleges at Trent to stress-reduction techniques and nutrition workshops at the Athletics Centre.
“Thrive Week is about empowering individuals to embrace personal growth and well-being, and the Trent community has embraced it wholeheartedly,” said Sarah Batley, assistant director of Sport and Student Engagement, and one of the people organizing Thrive Week 2023. “This week is an exceptional opportunity to explore everything that our support and service programs have to offer.”
“At Trent, we are deeply committed to the well-being of our whole campus community and have worked to provide a range of mental health and wellness support services for everyone,” adds Dr. Rona Jualla van Oudenhoven, director of the Centre for Human Rights, Equity, and Accessibility (CHREA). “Our goal is to ensure that everyone in the Trent community feels supported and has access to the resources they need, not just during Thrive Week, but year-round.”
