From Trent Canadian Studies to Telling Canadian Stories
CBC Radio Host and Trent Grad returned to his alma mater to share his experience with current students
Earlier this year, Canadian Studies graduate and host of CBC Radio One’s Up North, Jonathan Pinto ‘06 (Lady Eaton College), paid a visit to his old stomping grounds. During the visit, Jonathan sat down with Trent Magazine to talk about his journey from Canadian Studies to telling Canadian stories.
Pinto shared that throughout his time at Trent, he was taught to challenge his preexisting worldview, both as a student in Canadian Studies classrooms and while immersed in the prestigious CBC Radio Peter Gzowski Internship.
“I came into the program with an idea of what I thought Canada was and then that changed over my four years. That ability to challenge these notions of what we think an institution, country, or whatever is … I think that that ability to question is something that I carry with me today. To see things from so many different angles—I got that from my time at Trent—and I continue to do that today.”
You can find the full conversation with Jonathan in the latest edition of Trent Magazine.
