Trent University Mourns the Passing of Michael Edward Beswick
Member of Trent’s original 1964 class, Michael Beswick also served on the University’s Board of Governors from 1988 to 2001
The Trent community is saddened to learn of the passing of Michael Edward Beswick – a member of Trent’s original class whose time at Trent, according to his obituary, “led to a lifelong involvement with the University.”
Mr. Beswick graduated from Trent in 1968 with a degree in Mathematics. A long-serving member of the Trent University Alumni Association, he held various roles, including vice president and chair. He also served on Trent’s Board of Governors from 1988 to 2001. During his time on the board, Mr. Beswick also served on the University Pension Committee, Investment Advisory Committee, Labour Relations Committee, and the Executive Committee.
In a fitting tribute, an excerpt from Mr. Beswick’s obituary describes him as “an incredibly generous man, not just with his tangible resources, but with his time, his attention, his interest, and encouragement.”
The University extends heartfelt sympathies to Mr. Beswick’s family and friends, and to all who knew him at Trent. In his honour, donations to the Trent Fund are welcome.
