Trent University Saddened to Learn of the Passing of Trent Student Tazjon Atherley
The Trent University community is saddened to learn of the passing of Tazjon (TJ) Atherley, an upper-year Chemistry student at Trent.
Noted in his obituary, TJ passed away Sunday, November 14, 2021. He leaves behind a loving family and was a great son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend.
As a Chemistry major, TJ was passionate about the sciences, particularly math, physics, and engineering.
A fundraising campaign has been created in his honour to establish an educational bursary for visible minorities enrolled in Chemistry at Trent University. Make a donation in memory of TJ.
In honour of TJ, the flag atop Bata Library will be lowered to half-mast on the day of his memorial service.
The University extends heartfelt sympathies to TJ’s family and friends, and to all who knew him at Trent University. We understand that this news will be challenging for many in the Trent community. Counselling and supports for students and employees are available:
