Chancellor Makes a Splash at Lady Eaton College Carnival
“Douse the Chancellor” event provides buckets of fun while benefiting LEC
Trent University Chancellor Stephen Stohn ’66 showed his Trent spirit by participating in a special “Douse the Chancellor” event at the Lady Eaton College Carnival.
Students were given the opportunity to soak the chancellor, as well as other University VIPs (including LEC principal Dr. Christine Freeman-Roth and Marilyn Burns, vice president of Communications & Enrolment) by hitting targets with baseballs. Dr. Stohn and his partner, Linda Schuyler, pledged $500 to the LEC fund, increasing the amount by $25 with each contestant.
By the time second year student Sophia Frasca took her turn, the tally had risen to $725.
“All you have to do is the easiest thing in the world…” announced Dr. Stohn before Sophia stepped up to the line. “Soak the Chancellor!”
And with her final throw, the Peter Gzowski College student did just that, releasing a bucket of icy water onto the good-natured chancellor, and drawing cheers from her fellow students.
A dripping Dr. Stohn congratulated Sophia by announcing the donation in her name.
