Trent Students Win Award for Excellence in Innovation at Regional Competition
Enactus Regional Exposition celebrates entrepreneurial leadership of Trent students
Annually, the Enactus Canada Regional Exposition brings together student, academic and industry leaders to celebrate the achievements of Enactus teams from universities all over the province.
This year, members of Enactus Trent competed in the Regional Idea Pitch Competition, ultimately earning the 2021 Award for Excellence in Innovation for their submissions to the TD Entrepreneurship Project, the Scotiabank Climate Action Project and the CWB Financial Education Project.
Marlee Lunshof, founder of Enactus Trent and fourth-year International Development student, was nominated for the HSBC Women’s Entrepreneurial Leadership Award that will be presented at the Enactus National Exposition in May.
“Over the last three years, Enactus has taught me a lot about the value of teamwork,” shared Marlee, who is also an ambassador for Otonabee College. “I think most of us in Enactus, however naively, were the type of kids who always wanted to change the world. The teamwork that Enactus creates on campus restored my faith in a bright and sustainable future. I didn’t have to try to change the world on my own because Enactus fosters a community of like-minded people.”
Over the course of the three-day event, the Trent team, along with students from across the province showcased how their community outreach projects and business ventures are enabling progress through entrepreneurial action. Through rounds of live, presentation-based competition, business leaders serving as judges determined which Enactus team and student entrepreneur would be named National Champions and represent Canada on the global stage.
“Together, Enactus students are changing the world, one campus at a time, and I think it’s awesome that the Network decided to recognize that in our team with this award,” said Marlee.
