OPSEU Local 365 Support Local Charities for the Holidays
Trent University staff donate to four local charities
Members of Ontario Public Service Employees Union at Trent University opted to give back to our community this holiday season – donating $1,000 each to the United Way, Kawartha Food Share, the Salvation Army and Durham-based Feed the Need.
“Our members unanimously decided to support our communities in Peterborough and the Durham region. Most of us have not been financially impacted by the pandemic and wanted to support our neighbours who might not be as fortunate,” says Adele Devlin, OPSEU president.
OPSEU members have been donating to the United Way and Salvation Army for over 16 years. The union usually host a toy and food drive for the Salvation Army during their holiday luncheon. With the event being cancelled this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, OPSEU opted to support two additional charities. They are also encouraging others at Trent University to support local this holiday season, or to donate to one of the many non-profit organizations serving our community.
