Trent University Holds First Ever “Virtual” Homecoming
University celebrates with 15 online events and reunions
Trent University alumni and community members may not have been able to get together on campus for Homecoming Week, but they still found plenty of ways to celebrate. With Homecoming an annual social highlight, Trent University Alumni Council and Alumni Engagement and Services responded to COVID-19 by marking the occasion with a full week of innovative online events.
Over fifteen separate virtual gatherings were held, including: College reunions, alumni by the decade gatherings, a Trent Radio Alumni Homecoming Broadcast, virtual tours, Athletics celebrations, and more.
“Approximately 400 alumni from around the world ‘zoomed’ in to reconnect with classmates and former professors and virtually come home to their alma mater,” said Lee Hays, director of Alumni Engagement and Services. “Despite the distance between us, the events were welcoming, intimate, and entertaining! Thank you to everyone.”
The Alumni Association and Alumni Engagement and Services look forward to a return to campus Homecoming activities next year.
