$70,000 Funding Infusion Supports Career-Boosting Life After Trent Program
RBC investment creates opportunities for Trent students to build professional networks and gain in-demand skills
A $70,000 investment from RBC Future Launch in support of the Life After Trent program at Trent University will provide students with access to online resources, workshops and connections to help prepare them for success in future careers.
“In today’s competitive and rapidly-changing job market, it is vital we ensure all students are career-ready when they graduate. Through RBC Future Launch, we will be better able to help Trent students overcome industry challenges by providing ample opportunities for skills development,” said Julie Davis, vice-president, External Relations and Advancement at Trent University. “With this support, Trent will continue to adapt to the realities of a changing workforce and ensure that students succeed.”
Life After Trent encourages students to leverage skills learned during their degree through community engagement activities, service learning, workshops and networking with mentors and experts, while also providing experiential learning opportunities to students and recent graduates. It also connects students to Trent’s vast network of alumni, through the Ten Thousand Coffees online platform, to build mentorship opportunities and open doors for future employment. Life After Trent specifically helps students gain essential job skills and know-how in business, leadership, collaboration, communication, critical thinking, global perspectives, intercultural sensitivity, innovation, and emotional intelligence.
“Students are entering the workforce at a time of profound change. RBC Future Launch will help Trent students develop the confidence and skills to prepare them for the future of work, critical skills that employers are looking for,” said Glen Dormody, regional vice-president for RBC’s Kawartha Durham market. “We need to get this right. Canada’s future prosperity is depending on it.”
The support of the RBC Foundation and the RBC Future Launch program, allows Trent University to continue to build on efforts to deliver career-boosting experiences to prepare all graduating students for bright futures.
Through the Life After Trent Online virtual alumni networking series, students and recent graduates will have the opportunity to meet experienced alumni, gain insightful career advice, and create valuable connections. Upcoming sessions are planned for the Medical Professional Stream, Biomedical Science program, Physics program, and Trent Graduate Students Association.
