Trent University Saddened to Learn of the Passing of William Hodgson
Mr. Hodgson was a dedicated staff member for more than three decades
The Trent University community is saddened to learn of the passing of William (Bill) Hodgson, a fixture of the Trent community, and a long-time employee with the University for more than three decades.
Mr. Hodgson began his career at Trent In 1969 as a technician with the Audio Visual Resources Centre in the newly built Bata Library. For the next 36 years, Mr. Hodgson worked at the University and proudly managed the Audio Visual Services Department for the 12 years preceding his retirement in 2005. Mr. Hodgson kept strong ties with Trent in his retirement years, assisting with audio for the University's annual convocation and maintaining equipment at Trent Radio.
Below is an excerpt from his obituary notice:
William Laurence Hodgson, age 69, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre. In 1969 Bill started work in the newly built Bata Library at the fledgling Trent University campus working in Audio Visual Services and spent most of the next 36 years there managing the department. He spent retirement traveling, tinkering with his electronic equipment and generally enjoying the good life he'd worked hard for. A private family service will be held at a later date with a larger 'celebration of life' gathering to follow. In memory of Bill, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario.
Trent University extends heartfelt sympathies to Mr. Hodgsons’ family and friends, and to all who knew him at Trent University.
