Trent University Mourns the Passing of Margaret (Marg) Sanders
Ms. Sanders was a dedicated staff member of Trent University for 20 years
The Trent University community is saddened to learn of the passing of Margaret (Marg) Sanders who worked with the University for 20 years.
After completing her Master’s in History at Trent, Ms. Sanders started her career at the University in 1980, as the assistant to the dean of Arts and Science. From 1983 to 1984, she worked in the Department of History as an assistant before continuing to work for the dean of Arts and Science and later the vice-president of Academics, before retiring in October 2000.
Upon her retirement, Ms. Sanders was honoured with the Eminent Service Award for outstanding contributions to the life of the University throughout her career.
In speaking of Ms. Sanders, Dr. David Morrison, former dean and provost, recalls: "Marg was the 'go-to' person for deans, provosts, vice-presidents, department chairs, faculty and staff. If she didn't know the answer, she knew where to find it. She was unflappable and good-humoured, both desirable qualities when dealing with academics."
The University extends heartfelt sympathies to Ms. Sanders’ family and friends, and to all who knew her at Trent. Read the full obituary for Margaret Sanders.
