Trent University Celebrates Leadership in Indigenous Studies
In honour of National Aboriginal Day on Sunday, June 21, Trent University recognizes and celebrates its history as a leader and innovator in Indigenous education. Local Students Encouraged to Discover Benefits of Residence Life at Trent with New Award
Local students in the Peterborough Region will have the opportunity to explore and combine all of the benefits of residence life at Trent University with staying close to home this fall with the introduction of a new Residence Award. Offered exclusively to local students choosing to study full-time at Trent University in the 2015/16 academic year, the Residence Award presents eligible students with $1,000 to be used toward their residence fees. Trent University Durham Professor Becomes First-Ever Repeat Winner of National History Book Award
Historian, bestselling author, screenwriter and Trent University Durham history professor Dr. Robert Wright has become the first-ever repeat winner of the Canadian Authors Association (CAA) prestigious Lela Common Award for Canadian History for his newest book, The Night Canada Stood Still. 50th Anniversary Initiatives Recognized with Four National Awards
Trent University is marking the culmination of a milestone 50th anniversary year with several national accolades, after being presented with four awards from the Canadian Council for the Advancement of Education (CCAE) in the 2015 Prix D’Excellence Awards – two gold awards in the Best New Idea: Creativity on a Shoestring category for the innovative 50 in 50 GivingTuesday Fundraising Campaign, and in the Best Alumni Event category for the Trent University Alumni Association Alumni & Friends Reunion; a silver for Best Annual Report for the 2014 Report to the Community; and a bronze in the Best Fundraising Initiative category for Celebrating Legacies event, which marked the completion of Trent’s successful Legacy Campaign. Trent University Researcher Leads Project to Discover New Ways of Learning
Dr. Cathy Bruce, an expert in teacher and student efficacy and a Trent University School of Education and Professional Learning researcher and professor, has been awarded a competitive grant for over $24,000 through the Knowledge Synthesis competition by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) for research she will lead focused on spatial reasoning and its role in education and learning.
