Trent University is partnering with the University of Limerick (UL) in Ireland to expand collaboration between the two institutions. The signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Trent and UL, marks a significant milestone in Trent’s international development strategy.

"We are excited to be in Ireland to explore new opportunities for Trent to collaborate with leading higher education institutions such as the University of Limerick," said Glennice Burns, associate vice president International at Trent University. "With strong links to business and industry, UL excels at translational research which creates opportunities for both faculty and students overseas. Establishing robust international partnerships is critical to this effort."

Under the MOU that spans three years, Trent and Ireland-based UL will explore activities to further the exchange of faculty and students, and enhance both research collaboration and bilateral exchange for both undergraduate and graduate programs. Starting September 2020, Trent students can study at the University of Limerick for a semester or full year while paying tuition to Trent.

Similar to Trent, the University of Limerick offers the opportunity to study on a picturesque campus with state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities. It is also highly-ranked for graduate employment and student satisfaction.

This summer, Dr. Leo Groarke, president and vice-chancellor of Trent University, and Professor Kerstin Mey, vice president for Academic Affairs & Student Engagement at UL, signed the MOU which boasts potential opportunities for collaboration between the two institutions from Canada and Ireland. The partnership between Trent and UL will expand Trent’s study abroad network into 36 countries.
